Jessica Gregory. I Have Intered A Couple Post About The Surname Gregory And Gregor/ Macgregor / Gregorious ??. Ive Read The Surnames Of Scotland A Couple Differnt Times. The Gregory Name Goes Back To The 3rd Century. The First May Have Have Been Greek. But Probley Was Made Most Famous By Pope Gregory. The Pope Saw Some Slave Kid In Rome That Had Blond Hair And Blue Eyes Being Sold. He Thought They Were Beatiful. He Found Out Where They Came From, England. He Was Told They Had No Religion. Savages Even, He Wanted To Go There, But Had A Full Time Job In Rome, So He Sent 40 Monks. To Spread Religion All Over The Islands. This Maybe How The Name Spread Through England, Ireland, Scotland. When You Go To Highland Games And Other Clan Things They All Refere To That Book. If You Read My Other Post Maybe This Will Help. Paul.

as far as i know i am from a very long line of the original south west englands gregory [tribal] family that is rumoured to be part of the douboni tribe that ruled prehistoric south west england. jumping further into documented history the gregory familys spread in devon somerset and wiltshire and became rich in mining. the core family seem to split and some move to ireland and in particular are linked to the british army there. in fact my ggg grandfather was an officer in the black and tans reg. in ireland. i belive the mcgregor links with scotland are not justified nor is there evidence. the name george is most common in my line of gregory family [my father in fact has george as his second name] also john and william, and we are still based in the gregory tribe lands of the south west england in somerset and wiltshire. let me know if you are related to our line!

Hello, I am looking for my father, William (Bill) Gregory and any family member that I may have. I last saw my dad in 1942 in Oakland, CA. I am 71, born 10-7-1936. I was born in San Francisco. My siblings were Dolores Irene, Thomas Anthony and James Allen Gregory. I know nothing at all about the Gregory side of my family. I also know nothing of my mother's paternal side of our family. I do not know her maiden name. Her first name was Vivian. We were raised by my maternal grandmother, Irene O'Donnell and our stepgrandfather, George O'Donnell. They eventually took us to Willits, CA. I realize that by now my dad is dead. He was a good dad, though, and I would like to know more about his life. He was a young man when I last saw him so there is a strong likelihood that I have half-brothers and/or half-sisters. I would like to hear from any member of my family. For some reason, I have always had the impression that my dad was from the South. Thank you. Barbara Gregory

The name Gregory is Scottish. Comes from the name MacGregor according to my research.
